The project was a solar thermal electric generating facility located in the Mojave Desert near Kramer Junction, in San Bernardino County, CA. Our project scope included geotechnical services and land surveying services during or just prior to construction. Our land surveying was performed to assure quality control of Solar Tower footings & bolt placements. The footings required high orders of accuracy on two rows of bolts within 42 footings. Our geotechnical services included a field investigation, laboratory testing, foundation design, and recommendations for site improvements. We also provided compaction testing and inspection during grading operation, concrete mix design review and approval, and ICC inspection during placement of rebar and concrete foundations.
